PachesPatches:
It's a day I will never forget! The day I got my rabbit. I had been researching rabbit types, care and costs almost non stop to try and convince my parents that I was old enough and responsible enough to have a pet rabbit. I constantly talked about my hopes to have a rabbit join our family. My research data was becoming a large file.

When one day after school my mom told me we had to go on an errand from school. She would not tell me what type of errand it was. Secretly my mom was looking into the possibility of a pet rabbit. We pulled into a driveway and my mom explained this family had a rabbit they could not care for anymore. My joy and surprise and eagerness almost left me speechless because I was not sure they thought I was ready. As soon as I saw him I knew I could not leave him there.
I thanked the family for giving him up and we put him in the car. This is how my bunny "Patches" came to the country and become part of my family and continues to be a special part of my life.

When I went to a rabbit presentation at the library I found "Carrie" who had lots of information and that's how I joined the Ontario Rabbit Education Organization. We were using litter that cost $50.00 a big bag, after the presentation we now use woodstove pellets at a cost of $3.00 for the same size bag. Patches enjoys running about the family room and goes to his summer condo during the day time which he also enjoys. With the help of my parents, the library, and OREO, I truly treasure my rabbit.

Danielle, age 12 (got her rabbit at age 9)
