Please note that the Ontario Rabbit Education Organization
is not a rescue organization. We are a registered nonprofit organization,
established to promote the health and well-being of domestic rabbits in
Ontario. When possible, however, we do help to promote rabbits needing
homes by showcasing them on this site. The organization is not affiliated
with any of the rabbits listed on this site, nor does it take responsibility
for the health or behaviour of these rabbits. Please note that we advocate
that rabbits should be indoor house pets only and not kept outdoors in
hutches or for breeding purposes.
Bugsy, Molly, and Loblaws
 |
An extra large all black male rabbit named Bugsy.
Aprox 1-2 years old.
He is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and does not bite. He prefers
men and will take time to come to woman. He does come around he's
just a little shy. He apparently came from a free roam house where
he lived with two cats and was a Childs play toy. I don’t think he
had any real interaction other than with the 3 year old and sometimes
hides in the corner when meeting new people.

 |
A small white with black spot female name molly.
She is aprox. 1-2 years old.
Very active and needs to be in a home with children over 8. Does
not bite and loves pets but is shy at first. She came from a nice
lady who’s roommate had abandoned her. The lady had been taking
care of her but did not know that rabbits need time out of their
cage, thus she sometimes displays cage aggression when a foreign
hand reaches in. If you just take the top off she’s fine. She turned
her over in hopes she would find a family willing to play with her
and love her.

A medium black unaltered male named Loblaws (no name) likes to
run around like a crazy dude.
He’s aprox. 2-3 years old.
He doesn't bite and comes for pets. He is better in a home with
children over 10 who can respect that when he runs away he needs
his space and not chase him. When he came to us about 5 months ago
his nails were so long they were curling backward and he almost
had to have the vet take them out. Luckily he is so calm he let
us get a good look and we were able to cut them back. The people
who dropped him off didn’t even know his name and told me they’d
had him for a year.
He is not bondable at this time. Alteration may help with this.
He plays well when separated by the cage bars. He is now a nice
weight and loves to eat (and eat and eat).

Four rescued bunnies: Mama, Bonkers,
Velvet, Peter
| |
These bunnies have been found after thier owners moved out, and
left them behind.
Mama, so named because she was the one who gave birth to
the baby. Mama is a medium sized rabbit. She is black and white
and she has, what looks to me, a broken ear. Her ear was like when
we found her outside. I can pick her up, she has never bitten me
or my kids. She is always hungry and she tips her feeding dish all
the time. She also digs in her cage quite a bit.
Next is the baby who we have named, Bonkers. Bonkers is
completely black, very soft and he has been handled since he was
a baby. Bonkers was born in October, I think before Halloween. His
father is here with me too and from what I gather, he is a velveteen
rabbit, so Bonkers is half velveteen. Bonkers has never bitten us
and likes to be held and pet.
The father rabbit is, from what I researched, a velveteen rabbit.
He is white with a chocolate brown stripe down his back and some
brown spots on either side, and his head is brown as well. We have
named him Velvet because he is so soft. Velvet is the messier
of them all but he might improve if he gets neutered. He loves to
be held as well and again has never bitten anyone in my house. Velvet
is not as big as Mama.
And last but not least is a little grey rabbit who we have named
Peter (possibly a girl). Peter is a quiet little bunny, dark
grey in color. She is smaller than the others (dwarf size). She
seems to be friendly and has never bitten anyone but I don't think
she likes to be held very much. She is a pretty clean rabbit, pooping
and peeing in different corners.
If there is anyone out there in the Orleans/Ottawa area who is
looking for a rabbit to adopt I hope that you will contact me at
jenni.purr@hotmail.com.

Kikyo

Kikyo is a lovely little bunny in need of a new home. She is about
1 1/2 years old. She has been well looked after and up until recently
was very loved by her human companion.
Unfortunately, a new pet came on the scene and now poor Kikyo is
being ignored. From what I could tell, she seems to be a Netherland
Dwarf.
The contact is Pamela,
and her number is 416-248-2337.
She lives in the Royal York and Eglinton area.
All of Kikyo's things are to go with her to her new forever home.

Hunny (Ganuch/Hunny) is a two and and half year old blue/gray Holland
Lop.
Hi is litter trained, and his owners have e 2 cages for him: a small
enclosed cage and a open large cage.
Hunny is very loveable, great with children but he is a chewer (needs
bunny proofing). He does enjoy going outside when the weather is
mild for exsercise but does not travel far. He is healthy.
Hunny is free to a great home.
If you are interested in Hunny, please call Lee at 416-992-4335
or e-mail the owners at leehuddleston@hotmail.com
(with subject being Holland Lop)

These two adorable female rabbits are looking for homes together
or separate. They have been living beside each-other for 4 years
at an education centre. They seem to enjoy being neighbours, but
can not be allowed to run loose together. Due to the changes in
needs and staffing at the centre, we think that it would be best
if they were placed in loving family homes.
Willow is what we call a "French Lop". She has short,
dark fur and floppy ears. She is a happy-go-lucky girl, but prefers
to not be picked up (as many rabbits do). She is litter trained
and can be allowed to roam the room. Enjoys small treats! She is
probably about 6 years old.
Maple is a half-Angora rabbit with beautiful fur that needs to be
brushed once or twice a week. Maple is also litter trained and enjoys
a daily hop-about. Her favourite snack is alfalfa hay to munch when
she is in her cage. Maple is 4 years old.
Though it is not usually advised for rabbits, these girls are very
accustomed to children of all ages and so could even be adopted
as classroom pets by a knowledgeable teacher who would give them
a quite corner for their cages (one or both) and would supervise
all interaction with children. Litter boxes need to be changed every
two days and cage cleaned about once a week.
If you want to adopt Maple or Willow, please call Kelly Schafer
at 519-448-1248 (Brantford) or 519-823-1458 (Guelph).

Coco
 |
I am a beautiful, cream and brown colored 4 1/2 year old female
rabbit. I have had have a very good life so far. My owners have
been very loving, kind and gentle with me and have trained me very
well. I am friendly, toilet trained and love to eat. I do not fuss
or bite. I am a little shy of people at first until I get to know
them. I prefer to be in an adult home where
there are no children.
Presently, there are two children in my home which means I have
to stay in my cage most of the time because they grab at me. I have
been a little spoiled by my present owners and I am now more than
a little overweight.
My owners moved from BC to Ontario in July and I traveled across
country with them. I was a very good rabbit and traveled well. Unfortunately,
when we arrived in Ontario they found that the new TH they would
be living in was not very suitable for 4 adults, 2 children and
a large rabbit. In addition, my owner has
developed asthma and needs to find a different living
arrangement for me. She is sad about having to relinquish her responsibility
for me and is depressed
because she would like to have a good, loving home for me, like
the one I had in BC.
I would like a home with someone who knows and loves to take care
of rabbits. Because I am overweight, I need a sponge bath at least
once a week to help keep me clean in areas I can't reach by myself....
Can you help?
